People(군상)

Lee Ungno, 1986, Korean Paper, 167*226cm

"People(군상)" is one of Lee Ungno's representative series and also his later work. The series suggests the power of resistance emanating from the gathered masses, although it did not originally carry a political message. Following a 1974 calligraphy exhibition in Paris, where he collaborated with dancers, dance became a recurring theme in his work. The initial title for "People" was "Dance," highlighting its significance in Lee Ungno's oeuvre. Above all, dance served as a profound expression of Lee Ungno's deep love for humanity.
