Kim Geunwon (1922-2000) loved the mountain all his life. After hiking for the first time in 1955, he was inspired to create a record of Korean mountaineering history. His precious work has captured the elemental beauty of Korean mountains. The first two pictures show intrepid climbers scaling the slippery and untamed rocks of the Twelve Seonnyeotang at the westernmost tip of Mt. Seorak. The third picture shows the adorable baby moon bear raised by the people of Mt. Seorak.
