Haechi is a mythological creature that can tell right from wrong. It is also said to be capable of overcoming fire and disaster. It not only wards against evil spirits, but also serves as a protector of Seoul that brings both good luck and joy. It was selected as the city mascot in 2008 based on its historical tradition and unique cultural image.
